The 187th Fighter Wing held an all call for wing members August 5, 2018 outside the main hangar here.

The wing all call provided an opportunity to announce annual award winners and hear from the wing’s commander, Col. William L. Sparrow, who highlighted his priorities for the base.

“To find and keep your focus, look to the wing’s priorities.” Sparrow said. “Mission. Recruitment. Mentorship. Everything you do should lead back to one of those things, because they directly support and enable our mission here.”

Sparrow retained the wing’s previous commander’s top two priorities of mission and recruitment and focused on their importance to the wing. However, his priority of mentorship provides a new outlook to the future.

“This is a new priority for the wing and a very important one to our long-term success.” Sparrow said. “If executed correctly, it creates a small but crucial cultural shift. Good mentorship simply makes everything better. It will enhance morale…teamwork..recruiting..retention…and benefit our overall mission.”
