Chief Master Sgt. David E. Sellers, 187th Security Forces Squadron manager, deployed as the Security Forces manager with the 455th Expeditionary SFS, was presented the Bronze Star Medal, March 2, 2019, in the Wing Auditorium on base.

Sellers was awarded the medal for meritorious achievement while deployed in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel and Operation Resolute Support.

Alongside the leadership he provided, Sellers directed the squadron's quick response forces during an indirect fire attack and orchestrated emergency response to two wounded Americans.

Col. William Sparrow, 187th Fighter Wing commander, presented the award and acknowledged Seller's achievement.

"We are so proud of the work you have done, here and overseas," the commander of the Red Tails said. "It's just amazing to see some of this in print and that you are recognized worldwide by the United States Air Force. Really great work, not only for the 187th Fighter Wing all these years, but for the state of Alabama, and for our country. We're so proud of you."

Sellers expressed his gratitude to those that had served with him, and highlighted the work of the Airmen and leaders he was deployed with. He then extended gratitude to his family attending.

"To my family, without y'all's support, I wouldn't be able to do this either," Sellers said.
