Col. Eric Good Takes Command of 226th Combat Communications Group

Montgomery, Ala. --  Col. Eric Good assumed command of the 226th Combat Communications Group (226CCG) in a change of command ceremony August 5, 2017 at the 232nd Combat Communications Squadron here.

The 226CCG plays a vital role in supporting and enabling the employment of ready and reliable deployable communications in order to establish expeditionary cyber capabilities wherever and whenever needed.

A career guardsman, Good brings a wealth of communications and cyber experience to the position, and his last assignment was the National Guard Bureau Cyber Division Chief in Arlington, VA.

At the ceremony, Good talked about his three priorities for the group moving into the future.

“Number one is to support the warfight. We will continue to prepare to employ cyber capabilities at the tactical edge”, Good said. “Second priority is the homeland. We will be ready for our state active duty mission when called upon by the Governor or The Adjutant General to support civil authorities.”

“And third, we accomplish our objectives by strengthening our partnerships with Major Commands, NGB, the Alabama Army National Guard, state agencies, universities, fusion centers and other.”

Good was succeeded by Col. Gary Kirk, who had been the group commander since November 2012. Kirk has taken a new position as the ANG Advisor to the Commander and President of Air University.
